Annual Meeting

 

Location and Sponsor:  Robbinsville Elementary School/Duke Energy

I.                    Welcome/Introductions

A.       Rick Davis, Executive Director welcomed everyone and thanked Duke Energy who provided food and introduced Lisa Leatherman, Duke Energy District Manager, Nantahala Area.

B.      Rick Davis recognized the GREAT Board of Directors and first time attendees. 

C.      Rex Smith, Graham County Schools welcomed everyone

II.                  General Items

A.      Approval of Minutes of November 14, 2014 Meeting:  Motion was made by David Dodson for approval of minutes, seconded by Beth Fields with a unanimous approval.

B.      Approval of the Agenda: Beverly Whitehead made a motion to approve the agenda for the January 15, 2015 meeting, seconded by Joe Bonnette.  The motion carried.

III.                Business Items

A.       GREAT Financial Report:  Rick Davis presented the Treasurer’s Report in Pam Shaffer’s absence.  Restricted cash-on-hand was $113,770.92 and the unrestricted balance was $54,989.48. (See attached)

B.        GREAT Board of Directors and Officers for 2015. A new member to recommend for approval to the Board is Marcia Hollifield to replace Eve Rogers who has moved out of the area.  Dick Evans made a motion to accept Marcia Hollifield as a member, motion seconded by Andy Cable.  The motion carried. (See attached)

IV.                Public Discussion/Input

A.      Overview of GREAT 2014 Success and Accomplishments: Rick Davis presented a report to the public. (See attached)

B.      Request for public input on focus areas for GREAT in 2015.

V.                  Guest Speaker:  Bill Roberts, Manager for Economic Development – Duke Energy Carolinas

VI.                Announcements

A.      GREAT Board of Directors Meeting - February 2, 2015

B.      Next GREAT meeting – March 19, 2015 at Fontana Village

C.      Melissa Rooney, on behalf of Jamie Hooper announced the 9th Annual Polar Plunge to be held February 28, 2015.  All proceeds go to Graham County Special Olympics. (See attached)

VII.              Adjourn
