Welcome/Introductions
Rick Davis, Executive Director welcomed everyone to the meeting and expressed appreciation to Robin Turner, Owner Tapoco Lodge for hosting the meeting and Brookfield Renewable Energy Group for sponsoring the meal.
General Items
A motion was made by Yvette Carringe to approve the minutes from September 15, 2016 meeting with a second by David Dodson.
The agenda was presented and approved.
Reports/Discussion Items
The GREAT committee reports are attached. This time was used to provide updates on the Maple Springs Fire by the Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team. A thorough update on status of wildfire was provided with time for participants to ask questions.
Pam Shaffer presented the GREAT Financial Report.
Guest Speakers
Steve Claxton, Smoky Mountain Adventures provide a very inspirational talk of his trip on the Appalachian Trail in support of the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program for Graham County. He talked about his many experiences on the trail and the support that he obtained from ‘trail angels’.
Updates/Announcements
Brief updates were provided by local, regional and state partners. Rick Davis, Executive Director provided brief updates on the Graham County Destination Identify Project and upcoming meetings.
